Saying 30

¹¹ (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”

¹⁰ Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God;^(A) once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

²¹ that^[a] the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay^(A) and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.^(B)

³ We remember before our God and Father^(A) your work produced by faith,^(B) your labor prompted by love,^(C) and your endurance inspired by hope^(D) in our Lord Jesus Christ.

3 See what great love^(A) the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!^(B) And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.^(C)

On Not Loving the World

¹⁵ Do not love the world or anything in the world.^(A) If anyone loves the world, love for the Father^[a] is not in them.^(B)

⁴³ Laban answered Jacob, “The women are my daughters, the children are my children, and the flocks are my flocks.^(A) All you see is mine. Yet what can I do today about these daughters of mine, or about the children they have borne?
